Some interesting things about Elvis Presley

Back Home

01. Elvis's mother Gladys died on August 14th 1958 , and was buried on August 16 , the very date on which the King himself would die 19 years later (August 16th 1977).

02. Elvis bought over 800 cars during his lifetime. (I read that in magazine about cars and I don't now if that is true.)

03. At Graceland on August 12, 1992, RCA and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) posthumously awarded to Elvis 110 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums and singles, the largest presentation of gold and platinum record awards in history.

04. It is estimated that Elvis Presley has sold over one billion record units worldwide, more than any individual or group in the history of recorded voice. To give the figure some perspective, that's enough for every person in America to have four Elvis albums or singles in their collection, or enough for one out of every five people on earth to have one. Laid end to end, these one billion albums and singles could encircle the earth at the equator twice - and then some!

05. Elvis - Aloha from Hawaii, via Satellite , was seen in 40 countries by one billion to one-and-a-half billion people worldwide, and made television history. It was seen on television in more American homes than man's first walk on the moon.

06. Elvis received 14 Grammy nominations from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).
